Introduction

In the developing series of Ceed, the South Korean manufacturer has introduced a new stylish and appealing hatchback which has a strong focus on improving fuel consumption and emissions without compromising in power and performance. With upgraded engines and responsive transmission, the new Kia Proceed is now on its way to reach the top list of best selling cars in Bangladesh. Officially, it is known as Pro-cee’d which blends the initials of European Economic Community with “ED” which stands for European Design.

Engine, mileage & variants

For Bangladesh auto markets, the latest Kia Proceed is made available with perfect combination of petrol and diesel engine variants comprising 1.4 litre Gamma engine, 1.6 litre Gamma engine, UII 1.4 litre diesel engine and UII 1.6 litre diesel engine. The maximum power delivered across all the variants ranges from 100 PS at 5500 rpm, with 137 Nm of peak torque at 4200 rpm to 135 PS at 6300 rpm with peak torque as 165 Nm at 4850 rpm. Further, these powerful engines are coupled with 6-speed manual transmission providing better handling. The 1.6 litre Gamma engine acquires the speed mark of 0 to 100 kmph in 9.9 seconds. Also, the same fuel efficient petrol engine delivers the fair mileage of 17.2 kmpl, which is exceptionally good.

Exteriors

The South Korean manufacturers have given this hatchback an innovative body structure, which encloses number of striking exterior inserts. Its most appealing insert is its impressive LED lights at front making its front facade more promising. Its perforated honey-comb radiator grille which exceptionally outlined with chrome detailing depicts its sporty persona. To enhance its rear profile, this stylish hatchback has distinct LED lights embedded at rear side which connects the muscular rear profile with its curved side facade. All-new variants of new Kia Proceed are appointed sporty wheels including 17-inch alloy wheels comprising the tire size as 225/45 R17. Providing a spacious cabin to its occupants, it has specific dimensions measuring as 4310 mm x 1780 mm x 1430 mm (L x W x H). The standard wheelbase for new Kia Proceed comes at 2650 mm.

Interiors

Its front seats are employed with heating functionality with three levels that let you set your preferred temperature during cold days. However, in case of hot months this compact car is provided with manual or an automatic dual zone air conditioning system which provides moderate temperature inside. Further, it comes equipped with satellite navigation system featuring 7-inch touchscreen display which shows your point for interest. The steering wheel is mounted with number of controls for driver’s convenience. Its rear view camera gives you a quick glance of your position on the road.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

When it comes to safety, all of the variants of new Proceed are equipped with standard safety elements which offers maximum protection for the occupants. The safety aspects includes Hill start assist system preventing the car from rolling backwards. Reinforcing its active braking system, this hatchback is employed with high quality disc brakes for both front and rear pair of wheels. Also, it has sophisticated lighting package, lane departure warning system, and tire pressure monitoring system for additional safety. Providing decent suspension, this car is appointed with MacPherson Strut for the front axle and multi-link suspension for the rear.

Verdict

The new Kia Proceed comprises of plenty of appeal along with number of comfort features and excellent fuel economy. However, the refinement can be improved a notch higher.
